The Ski Area
Skiing in Portes du Soleil
We could create a whole site on the ski area because Les Gets is part of an enormous ski area. There are 12 different villages all connected by ski lift and little trains where necessary.. Each village has it’s own charm and characteristics and the lifts are so well connected that it’s possible to lunch in a different village every day! Far better value than the other large areas – a 6 day local pass bought on the web for an adult is just E204, and the whole area just E265. Child pass local E156 and area E199 – 2018/19 season prices. There are often further discounts if you buy your pass online, click here to go directly to the English version. In addition – always keep your old hands free card and you can reactivate on line with 10% discount or in one of the many machines around the village.
Les Gets ski area or full Portes du Soleil?
This is a question that’s always asked and the answer depends on many things. Firstly your skiing ability. If you have only one or two week’s experience it is simply not worth buying a PDS pass. The Les Gets ski area is more than adequate to keep you amused for a week. Secondly the weather. The truth is that high altitude skiing is unpleasant if the weather is bad. Once you are above the treeline it gets much colder and often windier. If the forecast is good then a tour of the Portes du Soleil is a fantastic day out.

What are the runs like?
Our local runs are well protected, nearly all serviced by snow cannon. There are spectacular views to Mt Blanc and the surrounding range, and a huge choice of altitude restaurants and bars for a lunchtime stop. For the more adventurous we have plenty of off piste, 2 local snow parks, offering confidence building kickers, spines and rails before progressing to the awesome parks of Avoriaz.
Our favourite skiing
Without doubt its Mt Chery. At first glance it may be missed as it has just 9 runs and 6 lifts, and this is the reason that most tourists don’t find it.
Mt Chery is where you’ll find the locals, the gradients are perfect, the views stunning, and the pistes beautifully groomed. Its one of those areas you cannot get bored of!
This is just the local ski area of Les Gets/Morzine . We are also connected to The huge Portes du Soleil area totalling 650kms of piste.
